Reticulated Moon, Crystal and Onyx Doublet Ring

Handmade in my little home studio in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

These rings feature little silver moons created by a process called reticulation. It’s one of my favorite processes but yields unpredictable results.

Reticulation is a process in which you heat and pickle sterling silver until the copper comes to the surface. You then remove the copper from the surface of the metal (by pickling). This creates a layering of different cooling and melting rates. The pattern you see is created when the copper oxide layer remains solid but the interior becomes molten and forms ridges and valleys.

The stones are rose cut doublets made from crystal and black onyx, and are set in a simple bezel setting. Rests upon a comfortable split ring band. Patinated and finished with a soft polish and clean highlights.

I solder, saw, file, stamp, fabricate, set all stones, form, patinate, and finish all my jewelry completely by hand using reclaimed and recycled Sterling Silver from certified ethically mined metal within the US.

I do not provide ring resizing services. I do not advise you to measure your fingers with string or paper, this will not give you an accurate ring size as paper and string fit differently than a ring band.
